On July 13, the 'Leisure and a Better Life: Solving the Problem of Unbalance and Inadequate Leisure Green Book: China's Leisure Development Report 2017~2018', jointly sponsored by the Institute of Finance and Economics Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Social Sciences Literature Press, was held in Beijing.
The Green Paper points out that health is what everyone needs and is related to the fundamental development of a country and a nation. The health service industry is not only related to economic development and people's well-being, but also represents the development level and civilization of a country and a nation. The health service industry is a typical 'happy industry', an important source to meet the people's needs for a better life, and also the industry with the most development potential and the most impossible to be replaced. It is an important guidance for the development of the health service industry in the new era, and has clarified the task and direction for us to accelerate the great development of the health service industry.
At present, the scale of China's health industry is 2 trillion to 3 trillion yuan. Assuming that China's expenditure on medical and health related services accounts for 10% of the world's GDP in 2020, the scale of China's health industry will reach 8 trillion yuan. This means that the compound annual growth rate of the medium and long-term health industry is about 21%. The health service industry is the core of the health industry. From the perspective of output value composition, in 2012, the added value of China's health and social security services accounted for 1.6% of GDP, 0.9 percentage points higher than that of the drug manufacturing industry; From the perspective of employment composition, the proportion of employees in the health and social security sectors in the total urban employment is about 4.7%. Comparatively speaking, manufacturing industries such as pharmaceutical and medical equipment have very limited employment. For example, the proportion of health service employees in the United States in total employment is up to 11%, while that in pharmaceutical manufacturing is only 0.2%. Therefore, whether from the perspective of industry scale or employment absorption capacity, the health service industry will have the largest growth space in China in the future.
