Feet frequency is small, defecation is difficult, abdominal pain and distension... Although it is a 'big thing', it seriously affects our daily life. Each patient has different causes of constipation. Do you know which one you belong to?

Organic constipation: refers to constipation caused by organic diseases of the abdominal cavity, large intestine, anus and other organs, or diseases of the digestive tract, endocrine metabolism, drugs and chemical poisoning, nervous system diseases, which directly or indirectly hinder and affect the normal passage and excretion of feces.

Functional constipation: due to the disorder or disorder of the physiological function of defecation for some reasons, the excrement can not be discharged from the body normally on time, resulting in constipation caused by difficult defecation, and there is no abnormality in the gastrointestinal structure.

Functional constipation is common in clinic. The incidence rate of women is higher than that of men, and it increases with age. Among them, the incidence rate of adults in China is 16%, and the incidence rate of people aged 60 and above is even as high as 20%.

  Common causes of functional constipation:

  (1) The diet structure is unreasonable, the food is too fine and the food fiber intake is insufficient, resulting in the weakening of the intestinal movement function, the stool stays in the intestinal tract for too long, and the stimulation to the colon movement is reduced. Normal defecation habits are disturbed due to work tension, too fast pace of life, changes in the nature and time of work, mental factors, etc.

  (3) It is caused by colonic motility disorder, which is common in irritable bowel syndrome. It is caused by colonic and sigmoid spasm. Besides constipation, it also has abdominal pain or abdominal distension. Some patients may show constipation and diarrhea alternately.

  (4) The tension of abdominal muscles and pelvic muscles is insufficient, and the driving force for defecation is insufficient, so it is difficult to expel feces from the body. Old people with weak body, little activity, long illness lying in bed, postpartum, etc. may have insufficient power to defecate due to decreased contractility of diaphragm, abdominal muscle, anal sphincter, and decreased abdominal pressure.

  (5) Long term abuse of laxatives reduces the irritability of nerve receptor cells in the intestinal wall. Even if there is sufficient feces in the intestine, normal peristalsis and defecation reflex cannot be generated, which leads to stubborn defecation difficulties.

  (6) The strong mental stimulation, panic, emotional tension, sadness and anxiety, or high concentration on a certain work will make the defecation sense disappear and cause difficulty in defecation. In addition, nervous system disorders, endocrine disorders, vitamin deficiency, etc. can also cause defecation difficulties.

  Constipation is very harmful~

  (1) Intestinal dysfunction. Constipation can cause tummy, abdominal distension, abdominal pain and other problems. It is also easy to cause anal fissure, proctitis, hemorrhoids, ulcers, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and even colorectal cancer.

       (2) It interferes with brain function. Toxins in the intestine will be absorbed in large quantities, which may interfere with brain function, causing memory decline, distraction, slow thinking, etc.

  (3) Make people ugly. Long term constipation can cause skin acne, bad breath, obesity, dark skin, dry hair, long spots and other symptoms.

  (4) Induce other diseases. Many people with constipation will defecate forcefully. This is because their blood pressure will be higher than usual, the oxygen consumption of the body will increase, and they are prone to angina, myocardial infarction, stroke, sudden death and other accidents. Male long-term constipation is also easy to induce prostate disease.

  How to alleviate functional constipation?

  (1) Ensure the amount of drinking water, especially when eating high fiber food. It is recommended to drink 2000ml per day.

  (2) Eat more fiber rich foods such as crude fiber, green leafy vegetables and fruits to increase the fiber intake in the diet. At the same time, the diet structure should be diversified, with the mixture of coarse and fine grains and the combination of meat and vegetables.

  (3) Develop good defecation habits, such as defecating in the morning, avoiding defecating by playing with your mobile phone and reading newspapers. In addition, if you deliberately hold back the intention of defecation when it comes, it will also lead to the disappearance of the intention of defecation for a long time, resulting in functional constipation.

  (4) Strengthens the physical training, the training raises the anus the movement, supplemented by massages the abdomen to promote the intestinal peristalsis

  (5) In terms of drugs, currently, the drugs for constipation are mainly divided into two categories: irritant cathartic and laxative. Avoid long-term use of irritant laxatives, because it will cause the sensitivity of the intestinal tract to stimuli to become lower and lower, and the colon will only move under strong stimulation, which will lead to poorer and poorer colon dynamics.

At present, there are many ways to treat constipation, but the effect is not good, and there is a lack of unified standards, especially chronic constipation needs long-term systematic treatment under the guidance of doctors. The Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Constipation in China pointed out that chronic constipation should be treated individually and comprehensively according to the symptoms, including the method of using gastrointestinal motility instrument. In addition to relieving symptoms, the treatment goal should also restore normal intestinal motility and defecation physiological function. Therefore, it is not easy to treat chronic constipation. Correct your attitude early and accept the treatment step by step is the most correct choice.
